A car and farm grain wagon were demolished Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they collided on Illinois 47. one and one-half mile south of Illinois 113.No one was injured in the accident.Grundy County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Neary reported a cardriven by James Lauridsen, 49,Braceville, was traveling southon Illinois 47 when Lauridsenglanced away from the road fora second.He told Neary that when he looked back he saw a slow moving grain wagon in front of him. Lauridsen applied his brakes and slid 69 feet before slamming into the grain wagon.The wagon was being pulled by a tractor driven by Burl Wilhelm, 54, Rte. 1, Illinois 47.Neary reported the car and grain wagon received total damage. There was no damage to the tractor.Lauridsen’s 1967 Oldsmobile was removed from the scene by Olson’s Arco of Mazon. Wilhelm pulled the 1975 Huskee grain wagon to the Ivan Payne residence.The sheriff’s department was notified of another accident at 6:23 p.m. on McArdle Rd. two miles west of Broadway St.The Illinois River at Morris dropped 1.45 feet during the night to a level of 13.25 feet at 7 a.m. today according to RayThere were no injuries reported.Deputy Kenneth Shannon reported a motorcycle driven by David Brasher, 18, Moncks Corner, S.C., and a car driven by Vernon Mellen, 17, Rte. 1, Holcomb St., Coal City, were eastbound on McArdle Rd. Mellen attempted to pass Brasher’s motorcycle and Brasher pulled out in front of his car.Mellen’s car struck theMorris is only .25 feet above flood stage.Webb said the Illinois rose Tuesday from a 7 a.m. level ofmotorcycle and carried it on its front end for 366 feet before stoppingDamage to Mellen’s 1969 Ford was estimated at $250. Damage to Brasher’s 1971 Honda motorcycle was estimated at $30. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.Brasher was ticketed by Shannon for having no motorcycle license.
