11 County Residents May Get Share In EstateOf Buchanan BrothersAbout 300 Expected To Enter Claims For Share; Meeting Held.Approximately 125 Cattai angus County claimants to a share in the Buchanan estate met: Tuesday night at Napoli when information was exchanged relative to theestate.Tins county is expected to pro* duee 1500 oi more claimants to the estate, established when the father of President James Buchanan and his four brothers, who had come from Scotland leased properly in New York City and elsewhere for a period of ninety-nine yearsThe 120 present al the meeting were advised to write to L. D.Buchanan at Houston, Tex., set-Ling faith their claims.Members of the family, it was stated, are expected to file claims for themselves and minor children.Families represented included the Waites of Napoli and Salamanca, the Woodworths of Salamanca and Elkdale, the Alilkses of Little Valley, the Moshers of Salamanca, Mosher Hollow and elsewhere in this section, and otheis.The descendants of Thomas Buchanan are said to number Chief of Police Walter J. Fellows and Patrolman Milo Waite of Salamanca; Dr. I-I. E. Waite of Salamanca, president of the city council; Ralph Leach and Die elderly Horace Woodworth of Elkdale; Walter Waite of Little Vat-icy, and C. L. Smith of Cattaraugus, the last named of whom produced a letter at the Napoli meeting he had received from L. D. Buchanan.Those present were told that L. D. Buchanan believes the estate when it is finally divided will even exceed the $850,000,000 it has been estimated at. The heirs have been estimated at 2,000 but may exceed that number considerably, members of the family say.When* news of the huge estate first began to percolate among the Buchanan descendents m this section the first news practically all,, if not all of them, had had of it or of their relationship—there followed much scoffing, then earnest searching of the genealogical records, visILa to old cemeteries where ancestors arc buried, And attempts to discover just what and where the estate might be, and who might have charge.At first the estate was reported to have been established by President Buchanan end hie brothers. The president never married, afid it was said the estate was to be divided among the heirs of. the brothers. The Cattaraugus county folk, or some of them, understood they were included, but just how they did not know.Now they are told the estate was established by the father of the president and bin four brothers, one of whom, Thomas Buchanan, spent part of his lifetime in Napoli, and who lies boned m the Napoh cemetery.
