BULLOCH ASSASSIN KILLS TWO PEOPLEMan and Woman Shot Dead on Public Road by Alleged Intoxicated Man.Statesboro, Ga., June 18.—John Dekle and the wffe of Joe Gottrell were found dead in the public road near the home of Fate Alderman, between here and Brooklet, Sunday night the woman being shot in the forehead and the man in the chest over the heart with a shotgun at close range.While Sheriff DeLoach and Deputy Mitchell were making a search for the murderer, Rob Dekle came to Statesboro and surrendered to Policeman Proctor, telling him that he had killed two people and he did not know what the people in that settlement might do. The Blayer lives at Brooklet, and j after the killing he vtont home, hitcli-1 ed up his team, and, with his little j son. came to Statesboro, bringing his child to drive the team back home.Rob Dekle is a brother of the man who shot the Riggs brothers at Met-; ter, in Candler county, some time ago,; for which crime he was lynched, and it is beHeved that he, too, feared sum-i mary punishment and felt that- ha j would be Bafer in the Bulloch county I Jail than he would at home. There was an eyewitness to the killing, and it is said it was without cause. Dekle is said to have been drinking when the shooting occured.
