Morey's Gail Raised to $3000.The ease against Willis Morey, charged with assaulting Miss Mary Sweeney on Florida moan turn seven years ago, came up in district court this morning. Sheriff Tinney slated that ex-Constable W. E. Hannon had a warrant for Morey seven years ago and lie was with him, Mr. Harmon arrested Morey and he ran away. Mr. Tinney said that Morey had been in town once or more since and that Morey told him he had a wife in Troy now. Tbeopolis Sweeney took the stand and said his daughter was working at the east side of North Adams. Mr. Sweeney said that on the night of June 2, 1888, his daughter came home and was exhausted, her clothing was rumpled and covered with dirt. She told that Morey had gotten ahead of her in the woods and when she came by assaulted her. Mr. Sweeney complained two days afterwards.Mrs. Sweeney substantiated her husband’s evidence and said her clothing was badly torn.Miss Siveeney said she was working in North Adams and came to Adams on the horse-curs and stated to walk home. She saw Morey first on Hoosac street and finally saw' him again at loot of mountain. He walked up the mountain with her to the Barney Leonard place, where Morey committed the assault. Alter wards Morey started down the mountain side. It was betTvee three and four o’clock when she start *d for her father's house.Judge Bixby held him for the grand jury under bonds of$5000.
