As is well known to everyone who knows anything, the bogwallows of this town have been running after II o’clock at oil/lit anci open all day on Sunday, been selling to minors, been selling to drunkards and breaking every ether moral and statutory law known to man so far as perlaii-s to their business. This tbey will continue to do as long as they exist. Any effort to make them do otherwise is simply spasmodic and after the ’washers are arrested and fined they return to their evil doing as the dog to its vomit. It is the same old story and there is nothing to dobut to tell it in the same old way. The oflicers are not altogether to blame for this state of affairs; tLe responsibility lies farther down; it lies with the voters of this country. The voters, and the voters alone, have it in their power to do away with these 40-rod institutions and establish something in their place more uplifting to mankind.
