The BiMminftdB Shooting.The following is the testimony of C.i. Wilson in the inquest on the body of old man Jiailey:On the 7th day of June, lb38, GeorgeHailey c ame into my store and his son Millard followed him. George asked: “Where is that child?” 1 said: “It is here, but you can’t take it.” He went on through the store to the door oi the kitchen, and went in and came #ut with the child. As he came out I againthe child , ftwispw He said: *‘l will show you that I can take it away.” Then 1 started to walk to the door. 1 was behind the counter. Millard Bailey was then about the middle of the store and I was behind the show case, or nearly so. I saw him getting a pi4#l out of bis jKxket, and got minn from the seed box on the counter. At this time he was n«*ar the door and had his pistol pointed at me and 1 shot at him. He went out doors about the time George was goinit out with the child in his arms, and 1 bred at him. Millard had gone out just before. I think, and 1 then followedGeorge out of the door, and bet ween the drug store and printing oilice heturned and we clenched. Millard then came up and tired at us and said:**%■ here, you d— — son oi a b-! Hewas about a rod from us when he shot. 1 was standing w itli my face toward Millard,and George was between us — or nearly so. Immediately alter theGeorge gradually went down, and 1 laid him down. Don’t know how many times 1 shot at George Hailey — probably three times, and twice at Millard* both times in the house, 1 think. My revolver was «*mpty whfwe clenched, and 1 p**cked him on thehead with my revolver.Catalia Republican; We are informed that Battle Hailey came to Bloomington from Mitchell accompanied by a male friend, to take charge ofthe child which was the innocent lt;-anse of the tragedy at Bloomington. Mr.Wilson, ho#ever, took charge of it under sanction of the law, aud the parties returned to Mitchell, after listening to some good advice.The verdict of the coroner's jury onold man Bailey, was as follows:We find that George Hailey came to death by a shot tired by Millard Hailey intended to hit C. F. Mlilson.Millard Hailey is still alive and swafrecover.
