Sheriff Lansden stated later he scarcely ever .had seen such a bloody sight The interior of the car was slimy with blood, while a pool of blood was found on the running board and Abbott, as well as the girl, was covered with gore.FOLLOWED PARTY.Abbott's attack on the Webb gill followed a party at which they and others, including two older sisters of the girl, had attended at the home of Bert Kirkendoll, at which there is said to have been several rounds of drinks. Abbott, it is said, bad been wanting to “go with” cne of the older Webb girls, but his attentions had been discouraged. Leaving the Kirkendoll party, Abbott is said to have followed the Webb girls, who accompanied others on a ride. Finally Abbott, who had been serving as fiddler and caller at the dance at the Kirkendoll home, desisted and disappeared, later reaching the Webb home and abducting the girl from her bed, where she lay asleep.When first taken into custody of the authorities, Abbott declared he had not been drinking, then said he oould_not remember the events of the night and early morning. He appeared to be in a stupor, but showed immistakeable signs of his bout with the girl, who apparently had put up a stiff fight to repulse his attack.
