Bert Kirkham, a former Knox resident but now of Winamac is held in that city upon the charge of as-sult with intent to kill Elmus Tunis, an uncle of Kirkham’s wife. Mrs. Kirkham got “religion” and confessed to her husband that she had been unduly intimate with her uncle. She asked Bert to send for funis so that they might talk the matters over together and persuade Tunis to remain away from her. Tunis went to the Kirkham home and a racket followed. Bert struck Tunis over the head with an iron bar. fracturing the skull. Tunis was taken tothe hospital at LoganBport and Kirkham was lodged in jail. “Religion” doea take some queer turns, occasionally.
