He was unable to furnish bail and was committed to jail. A hearing was also held on a surety of the peace charge which had also been preferred against the defendant, this case resulting in a discharge.Information charging the defendant with the first named offense was made by (iaetauo Giamerina, brother of I Carmine Giamerina, on whom the al-| ged assault was committed. One !evening a week ago the two men were (returning home from a wedding party at the house of a mutual friend. Valentine was considerably the worse of liquor, and was being assisted along the street by Giamerina. Semingly without provocation the former is alleged to have drawn a knife and assaulted his companion, slashing him in the shoul-Ider, breast and neck, the wound last |teferred to narrowly missing the jugular vein. The assailant was arrested and has since been in jail.
