tor new trial.The trial of Robert Marshall Hall tor the killing of James Yates at McAlester, in iSyt, was taken up. Yates and Hall had trouble at a gambling house on “Chippy Hill,” \*uu Yare.; i/uck H:iV, over the head with a pistol. Hall lelt shortly afterwards and went to his store in McAlester, but soon came hack to find a pocket book which he said he had lost. He and Yates met in the road and began tiring at each other. Yates was killed and Hall wounded in the at m. Ilall fled to Mississippi, where he was arrested. He was tried, convicted and sentenced to be hanged, but the Supreme Court granted him a new trial on account of certain remarks of Col. Clayton, at that time district attorney, in his address to the jury. Hall was acquitted in this trial.
