Morelock And Ralph StewartSullivan County / Circuit ■ Court convictions of Ralph Morelock, Herbert* Napier, Preston Sutherland and Ralph Stewart were affirmed Saturday by the Tennessee Supreme Court, but in most cases sentences were modified.The conviction of Barnett iL Trew of involuntary manslaughter in the poison “medicine” death of Mrs. Belle Milham was reversed and remanded.Morelock was found guilty oi aceond-degree murder In the fatal shooting of his 21-year-old wife, Mrs. Revel (Bob) Light Morelock, at their Blair's Gap Dallas hut last summer.Pleaded InnocentChief.Deputy Sheriff M. H. Witt quoted Morelock soon after the shooting aa saying, I was drunk, awfully drunk. I loved my wife more than anything else in tbl* world. I wouldn't have shot her for anything.” He pleaded Innocent when the case came to trial and sought unsuccessfully to prove Mrs. Morelock had committed suicide*Saturday the ‘Supreme -Court modified Morelocktfw-senteircc^td'fi term of from 10 to 15 years.'.Herbert Lee.(Hub) Napier,'31, of Appalachia, Ya., was convicted on two o£ three counts of’feJohious-M-’ sault growing out of the spectacular kidnaping of Kingsport Policeman Harold Fleming last July 10, in. plain view of a steady stream of rush-hour motorists,. and a subsequent gun battle with two deputy sheriffs.Circuit Court fixed his punishment at two six-year sentences.
