Bert Kirkham, formerly a resident of this city, got into a dirty mix-up with his uncle, Elmer Tunis, at Winamac on Tuesday night of last week and he is now held in the Rochester jail on a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill. The two men, so it is reported, got into trouble over an existing intimacy between Tunis and Kirkham’s wife and her confession of the whole business led up to the quarrel which ended rather disasterously for all concerned. During the hostilities Kirkham crushed Tunis’ skull with a rock and the latter is now recovering from this injury in a Logansport hospital. The whole affair, from all indications, is too disgusting to deserve more than passing consideration.
