She plans to complete her master's degree in information systems technology there as well. She works in the Washington, D.C., area as a computer programmer and free-lance Web developer.The groom-to-be earned his bachelor's degree in the science of economics and his master's of business degree from the University of South Carolina. He works in Washington, D.C., as vice president ofafter-market and customer services for Rolls-Royce.After dating for two years, Brown surprised his bride-to-be by proposing to her on one knee in front of Westminster Abbey during a trip to London.A mid-afternoon, outdoor wedding is planned for her birthday, June 6, 2004, at Breaux Winery in Purcell ville, Va.Hussey - BergeJ. Eric and Dee Berge of Irvine announced the engagement of their daughter, Erica Deanne Berge, to Ryan Thomas Hussey. He is the son of Kathy Sowell. She owns and runs the women's apparel boutique called Erica Dee in Corona del Mar.The future groom is a graduate of Corona del Mar High School and graduated in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in English from California State University, Long Beach.The wedding is planned for Nov. 8 at the Laguna Presbyterian Church in Laguna Beach and a reception is planned at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.The couple plans to live in Corona del Mar.Wei - HulbertJennifer Jean Hulbert and Ching Wei, both of Irvine, exchanged wedding vows June 8, 2002, at a double-ring ceremony in the Garden Room at Chan-teclair Restaurant in Irvine. County Clerk Darlene Bloom presided.The bride is the daughter of Penelope Schneider of Irvine and John Hulbert of Auckland, New Zealand. The groom's parents are Lian and Jen Yu Wei of Los Angeles.The bride wore a sleeveless, caviar beaded peau de soie gown with a bateau neckline, empire waist and chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of cream-colored garden roses and peonies wrapped in silk and finished with pearl pins.The bride's sister Julie Routley of Irvine was matron of honor. Bridesmaid was her friend Karen Henderson of Seattle, Wash. The attendants wore sleeveless apple-colored satin dresses and carried blush-colored garden roses and peonies tied with apple-colored silk ribbon.The best man was the groom's childhood friend Tony Manson. Dan Meyer of Salt Lake City, Utah, was groomsman. Ushers were Johnny Hulbert, Davis Irie, Matthew Routley, Joe Sepulveda and Aaron Vedvick.The flower girl and ring bearer were the niece and nephew of the bride, Emma and Abraham Routley.A dinner reception for about 100 friends and relatives followed the ceremony in the restaurant's Grand Salon. Decorations for the reception included silk-wrapped centerpieces filled with arrangements of pale yellow, coral and blush-colored garden rosesand peonies, pale green hydrangeas with wild berries. An arrangement of bright-colored California poppies decorated the children's table.The bride works as a project geologist at Mactec Engineering and Consulting. She earned a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of California, Los Angeles.The groom is a manager at Tucker Alan Inc. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Southern California. He also earned a master's degree in business administration from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon.The couple honeymooned at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui, Hawaii, and make their home in IrvineSupportAbility honors courageIrvine nonprofit SupportAbility board met in May to choose recipients of 19 Julie Inman Courage Awards at seven high schools in Orange and Los Aii-geles counties. Among those honored were two Creekside High School students, three University High students and four Wood bridge High students.Creekside students who received awards were Nicole Glat-man and Marcia Matthews.University students were Jessica Grubbs, Harper Halprin and Nick Bamssoy.Woodbridge students were Sarah Alleen, Brianna Rodrick, Cecile Nguyen and Michael Tran.The awards totaling $13,500 recognize courage in high school graduates by giving financial aid to students who show courage in overcoming life's obstacles. The obstacles may be physical or learning disabilities, illness, illness of a parent, financial difficulties, death of a loved one or unusually difficult circumstances at home. The awards are to be used to furthereducation or vocational goals.SupportAbility is a nonprofit group founded and led by Irvine resident Julie Inman, who used her own courage to overcome the effects of a devastating stroke at the age of 15.Through SupportAbility she promotes self-esteem, success,awareness and advocacy for people with disabilities.
