Walls, city health officer, said to have taken place,.,in. the office of the doctor Friday evening, led to the assessment of a ten dollar fine against P. Ur .Haumont in Judge Bruch-man’s police court yesterday afternoon.^ The defendant, who was represented' by Charles D. McCauley, %ill-appeal the case to the superior court.Y According to evidence presented'/R the trial, Haumont entered the office of the health officer to inquire into the working of the quarantine law. His family had been put ,under quarantine for whooping cough and he claimed that while his children were confined to the house, others in the neighborhood, in the same state of quarantine, were allowed to run free.In the argument which ensued, and: in; which Walls claims he was merely giving/instruction according to his right' as a health officer, it is alleged that Haumont used threatening words and manners% 4d was ordered from the office.The doctor claims he used a chair to push the defendant from the office when Haumont tried to strike him. Haumont accused the physician or raising the chair to strike him. In the fracas a glass window in the office door was broken.
