STEVENS FOUND GUILTY4Two Others Accused in GoshenAssault Case Are Ac-. quitted.Newburgh, Juno 11—George Dixonand George Hutchinson were found not guilty of assault on Joseph Picono by a jury in the County Court Wednesday afternoon and Charles Stevens was found- guilty. Judge Albert H. F. Seeger deferred sentence on Stevens, declaring he wanted time to consider the matter.Beforo the judge stated his intention, Stevens made a strong plea for his release.' Judge Seeder told him he was a bad man. and recalled his actions a short time ago Immediately after ho had been released from Sing Sing prison. Ho purchased a revolvoi and tried to shoot up tho train because his fare was demanded.Tho trial was started early that morning. District Attorney Jonathan, D. Wilson, Jr., .conducted the prosecution. James M. H. Wallace appeared for the three defendants. Tho assault took place In Goshen on March 31, when the three men were mixed up In a row with Picono In his home. Picono was badly carved with a knife and for a time his life was despaired of. The three defendants each swore : he was not the man who used the knife. Tho testimony was to the effect that Stevens %as tho ringleader.
