I BEAM # NO HEATSMr. Lllwiu Enters Denial of the Unpleasant Report Brought to theI’olice Yesterday.' .David Litwin, the West 'Madison, avenue second-hand dealer, called on the Register today. Mr. La twin stated that he was greatly surprised when he saW the story in last night’s paper to the effect that his wife bad gone to the home of a friend, weeping, and asking for Ithe police, as a result of his having ’heaten her. He depied- the beating,' and he also denied that he had ever threatened to kill her.As .to the statement made in the paper that his wife was afraid to take legal steps to secure protection, he referred to Mrs. Litwin,. who accompanied him, and stood, white-faced beside him while he explained; that theonly ground for the story of yesterday was one of the to-be-expected little domestic -rows.. Mrs. Litwin spoke never a word during the interview'. At the conclusion the reporter asked her if it was agreeable to her to have the paper print her h.usound's statement and his denial that he heat her and to say that there was no need for outside aid.: She nodded* her head.The Register hopes,that Mr. Litwinnever strikes his wife, and that, thereports which the sheriff’s office and the police have of his actions are untrue. in the absence of further evidence it must be assumed that they are untrue.
