The colored people have been mostly benefitted by Governor Hanly’s recent crusade against gambling which closed A1 Brown's place, as the colored gambling resort-said to be leased in the name of a negro named Slye, has been turned into a place for the white sports that go to the valley for amusement, which calls for the click of the ivory or the facinating sight of a little ball chasing around a numbered wheel. At midnight the metro-politian high rollers visiting the valley still sing:“Oh, thelidisoff tonight in Indiana, The gamboliers are gambling night and day,The old banks of the Wabash areforgotten,For the faro banks of French Lick,far away.”—Bloomington Telephone.
