the Case Cannot Time—Search imSheriff Smutzer Saturday re-oeived from C. E. Faye, acting consul for Norway in Chicago, a letter regarding Olaf Jensen, who left Chicago in 1906 to come to LaPorte to visita rich Norwegian widow who lived on a farm. He has not been seen since. The consul states that Jensen told his friends he intended to marry the widow, having gotten acquainted with her through a matrimonial advertisement in a Scandinavian newspaper. That was the last seen or heard ofthe man.Enclosed with the consul's letter was one from the mother of the missing man, Mrs. Eleve Marie Sveu-kerud, 43 Toftts grad., Christiana, Norway, who enquires for Information regarding her son. She says that he worked last in Capron, 111., and one day he called on some relatives in Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, now living in Christiana, and told them he was going to LaPorte, Ind., as he intended to marry a rich widow who lived on a farm and whom he had met through answering her advertisement in Skandinaven. He said the lady was from Tronhjolm, Norway. (Mrs. Gunness was born in that place.) The mother writes that sinceBe Rea ched at This ■ for Olaf Jensenready for the trial of Ray Lamphero, charged with the murder of Mrs.Belle Gunness and her three children, by setting fire to the Gunness house and also the murder of Andrew Hel-gelein, it became known Saturday that there was little likelihood of the case being called for trial until next fall. Last Monday a civil suit was started in the circuit court. It will last from two to three weeks and when that is over the weather will be so hot that not one of the persons interested will be very anxious to take up the case. It is believed that the Lamphere trial will last from two to four weeks and to run it through the month of July is not to the liking of the attorneys. Prosecutor Smith expressed himself as being willing to wait until fall, although he had his evidence in hand and could go to trial Monday morning if necessary. Attorneys Darrow Worden talked along the same strain. They said the worst part of waiting until fall was the fact that Lamphere would be locked up In jail all summer. Another feature of continuance of the case until fall is that it will enable a moie extended search for Mrs. Gunness on the part of those who believe that she did not perish in the fire.
