Joseph authorities and an effort will be made to connect the Blackney bureau with the tragedies of the Cmines* farmLaPorte, Ind., June 10.—Sheriff Smutzer will appeal to the federal postal authorities for assistance in finding J. S. Blackney, formerly of 8t. Joseph, Mich., who was formerly the head of an affinity finding association.Yesterday Sheriff Smutzer received a letter from a St. Joseph, Mich., citizen in which he gave the Information that he bad received a1 letter from the Blackney • bureau ' telling him of a wealthy widow, possessor of a fine farm and plenty of money, who was eligible for matrimony. “If you survive her you will have a nice fortune,” was the way the letter closed.The sheriff will ask the assistance of the St. Joseph authorities in finding Blackney, who is believed to have been in league with Mrs. Gun-ness in finding and sending victims to her charnel house.
