WHAT THE PEOPLE DEMANDEDTo Relieve Overcrowded School*).The following petition shows the impatience ol our coiHmnuily at the dilatory action of the board, after they were authorized* ami directed bylaw to go ahead, and I tie money whs voted for that purpose. There hua been a crying demand for two years for more school capacity to accommodate fmm tC*0 to IUQ pupils, and this was what the school hoard was commanded to supply.To the Titusvillo School Board:The undersigned, taxpayers of tbo City of Titusville, respectfully petition and pray your bouorable body that you consider the following suggestions and Ink:* each prompt and decided action as wo think you will admit those Beveral crbck may seem to call for:First—Wo enter our solemn protest against the further use of the Main street building in Its present condition, believing tbo same to be unsanitary, duugorom to the health of touchers ami scholars, and not iu accordance with iho law uud statutes, being badly heated, imperfectly lighted, and not vmCilatctl; and wo especially call your attention to the inauuer of receiving light, the einno being very injurious and dangerous to the eyes of both teachers and scholars.We therefore respectfully but crirnoatly pray that you take prompt measures for ■having this building put iu good condition, and in time for opening the fall term.Second—We enter our solemn protest against the further use or occupation for school purposes of iho building known as “Lang's Hull, and urge fclmfc yon provide a better place, believing that you will find good and sufficient rousons therefor on careful inspection of the building and premises.Third—We respectfully remiud your honorable body of a resolution adopted by you at a regular meeting held Juno SJ,1887, calling upon the citizens to vote you the uecossary authority for issuing bonds fur the erection uf u high school building, and that such authority was duly granted you over twenty-two (2'2) months since. Your petitioners do now respectfully and earnestly pray that von no longer deh.y this matter, but lake immediate and prompt measures for the erection of tie building as contemplated.Your petitioners ask that you mm-udur their prayers aud give the same yourearnest and kindest consideration.Titusville, May 13, 1SS9.W.
