When about two miles on theroad he received a rifle ball through* Msbody, which went in at the left Hide andcame out under the right arm. He fell fromthe wagon and turned the horse loose think*!ing by this means to call assistance. Two jgentlemen passing at the timlt;to a friends house in the neighborhood, butbefore medical attcndanco could be procured he died. The ritle wad was found jnear where ho was shot, evidently showingthat the murderer had been within ’JO feetof his victim.A rival for the hand of the young ladybad threatened to shoot him and he is supposed to be the guilty party. He has not«ret been arrested, but will probably be be-1ore morning.
