the robbers, who have been arrested in this section of the country, as far as circumstances have developed them. We were present at the com-mitiuent trial of John McDaniel, and D. McDaniel in Independence on last Friday: and upon trial we heard the confession, of S, O. Berry, and W. Mason, both of whom, were parties to the robbery. The following1 statement was made by Berry as near as we can recollect, as we did not take down his evidence in writing at the ijmu it was given. Berry states that Jno, McDaniel, David McDaniel, Doct, Harris, Win. Harris, Doct. Profontan, B. F. Talbert, Nat. Morton, John A. McCormack, Joseph Brownt Wm. Mason, Kit. Sercey, Gal. Sercey, Thomas Towsend, Sk»ller Oldham and himself, and in all 15 men left Westport some time in March last, for I he alleged purpose of joining in with a man by jo name of Warfield, whom it was said held a commission under the Texian government, and was at that time waiting for them in the region of the Big Arkansas river, near tho boundary line between the United States Terrirory, on or near the Santa Fe road, from that place to Independence: he further stated that after they had travelled from Westport, he thinks about 250 miles, or there-abouts, they met a Spaniard and turned him back towards the Arkansas, with the company. They then proceeded not very far j j belore they met six other Spaniards, among whom was Chauvis, a well known Santa Fe trader, ae he understood, the owner of the goods and money then in possession of the Spaniard. John McDaniel rode up first and commanded the Spaniards tosurrender, that they were prisoners of Texas, which they did without resistance.— McDaniel and his men then secured the arms of Chauvis and his men, and then took the Spaniard and their goods some distance, eay four miles off, the main road, when, they robbed them of every thing valuable; alter this was done, a division of the booty that they had gotten, from Caauvis, was made among McDaniel’s compa-pv, he stated that he thought there was about 112,000, in coin and bullion, divided among 15 men. Immediately after that division, hirnself and six others, Doct. Harris, Wm. Harris, Doct. Profontan, B. F. Talbert, Nat. Morton, and John A. McCormack, returned, however, with the understanding, that the remaining sight were going on towards Santa Fe to join Warfield and his men. This in substance is all that Berry stated to the Court.bilt;vhFrom the Liberty (JTo.') Banner. The Robbers Caught. We promised our readers last week that we j . woul d give a full detail of the facts in relation tofi o#1aotvtrePnShCesVt\€IAfter Berry had gotten through his statement, Mr* Mason was called on and stated the same in substance which Berry had stated up to the time that Berry and the other six men had left.^ Therefore, w© do not repeat Mason’s statementVp to that time.
