R. D. BcRRUsa Convicted of Forgery.—The second indictment against Roger D. Burruss for forgery was tried in the Utis-tinirs Court yesterday. The accused was represented by Messrs. John H.Guy and W. W. Cosby.The following jury was selected to trythe case: William S. Davis (foreman), James II. Woodcock. John T. Butler, Patrick F. Bovle, James C. Atkinson, R. E. Armstrong, It. J. Muse, J. J. Anderson, William A. Allen, M. A. Allen, John W. Arnold, and S.G. Atkin®.The case oceupied the court the whole day, and was given to the jury at 7:35 P. M. After an absence of twenty minutes they returned and brought in a verdict of guilty, and ascertained the punishment of the accused to be confinement in the penitentiary for two years. At the request of the counsel for Mr. Burruss the jury was polled, and In answer to the question each juryman responded that he agreed to the verdict.The prisoner's counsel then made a motion to set aside the verdict and for a new trial, both of which were overruled by Judge Guigon, and the counsel were given lime to prepare a bill of exceptions.Mr. Burruss was acquitted on the first indictment.
