K. D. BrnRirss Convicted of Forgery.— The second indictment against Roger D. Burruss for forgery was tried in the Dustings Court yesterday. The accused wm represented by .Messrs. John H.Guy and W. W. Cosby.The following jury was selected to try the case: William S. Davis (foreman), James U. Woodcock, John T. Butler, Patrick F. Boyle, James C. Atkinson, R. E. Armstrong, It. J. Muse, J. J. Anderson, Wilfbm A. Allen, M. A. Alien, John W. Arnold, and S.Q. Atkin?.The case occupied the court the whole day, and was given to the jury at 7:35 P. M. After au absence of twenty minutes they returned and brought in a verdict of guilty, and ascertained the punishment of the accused to be confinement in the penitentiary for two years. At the request of the counsel for Mr. Burruss the jury was polled, and in answer to ton question each juryman responded that he agreed to the verdict.The prisoner's counsel then made a motion 10 set aside the verdict and for a new trial, both of which were overruled by Judge (Juigon, and the counsel were given lime to prepare a bill of exceptions.Mr. Burruss was acquitted on the first indictment.
