The Timmons Tragedy. JhIn the year 1848, Mrs. Mary J Timmons,! then ibe wife of Elijah Timmons, residing!n the Michigan road, two miles North of! Burlington, in a fit of insanity, in the dead! f night, when her husband was asleep sunk! n axe into uis face. The blow was given! with such force, that the lower part of the! face was eeveied from the upper part, andj resented ^hc most horrid and revolting ap-flarance. Mr. T., survived a day or twojp od mortification setting in he died. immons was brought to Delphij|d ned in jail, but her relations fro^Biio ar j| iving a short time afterwards, she was re!sed, and uken by them to that State.— 1 he remained there a few years, part of the! *rae in an Asylum, and returned home ■ red. Since then, she has been keeping! ouse, and nothing unusual was observed! ntil recent!j% when she again began to! manifest signs of insanity. Last week, her! n, the Rev. John B. Timmons brought! er to Delphi, wLh the view of having the® reparatory investigation prior to placing! er in the Indiana Asylum for the Insane.! he returned home, (ro Dodgetown) will! er son, awaiting the decision of the Su-B-rintendent of the Asylum. We are as! urcd that she was strictly watched, andJP II the axes about the premises were hid.HJ s was supposed in places where she would! e unable to find them. But on Saturday!rniuglast, by some means she procured! n ax, and while her son John B. Timmons! was alseep, sunk the same in his face very!uch as she had done to his father in 1848.!
