Pflrman advanced to tbe prostrate man as if to kill him outright while they were alone, whereupon, summoning his remaining strength, Steffen arose and ran some diatanoe, when Pflrman halted and beat a retreat. Steffen’s father hastened to tbe scene and met Pflrman who brandished his knife and threatened to kill the father, who retreated, Pflrman going homo.Pflrman is a vetejan of the Franco-Prnssian war and has been a resident of this oonntry only six years. He has encountered financial reveries, losing all he owned and this, ooupled with the faot that be is a heavy drinker, Is thought to have rendered him mentally unsonnd. He is 48 yeara of age while the victim of his assault is 27.
