Killed by a Stray Shot.On last Thursday afternoon a colored woman was killed near Vainville, under the following circumstances: Messrs. George Rentz, Tom Rcntz and Willie Connor., wishing to have some spoit,J took a small riHe and went to the woods near the residence ot Dr. Goethe to practice at a target placed against a large pine tree. They tired several shots,' and Mr. George Rentz firing last, missed the tree. While examining the target they heard some one crying out as if hurt. They ran on about filty yards through the thick woods, and coming to a path leading toward town found two negro women standing over theprostrate body of Mary Ann bimmons, who had received the bullet in the centre of her breast. Dr. Goethe, the humane and skilful physician, heard the outcry and hastened to the spot, but could do nothing to save the woman's life, and she expired in ten minutes. An inquest was held over the body of the deceased by Coroner J. C. C. Matthews, and a verdict rendered in accordance with the facts. Mr. Rentz is very much depressed and deeply regrets the unfortunateiKxmrrence.— Hampton Guardian.
