A girl about 14 years old, whose place of residence is Upper Alton, was arrested Friday night, on Prospect street, for lewd conduct. After an examination, Justice Quarton remanded her to jail and notified Supervisor Gillham, of Upper Alton Towship, of the facts in the case. Marshal Volbracht, on Saturday, ar rrested a man from Louisville, Ken tucky engaged in peddling cigars without a city license. He was released, upon procuring the necessary papers, by the officer. It was found, by further ex amination, that he had no Government license and the wagon, team and stock in trade were cefiscated and are held by the Marshal.
