MADISON. W.Va. (UPI) - After relentlessly pursuing leads that all turned out to be false. State Police said Wednesday it appears a jewelry store owner and his wife may have been abducted Aubrey and Alberta Hawkins went missing Monday night and police now say they have no other choice but to believe they were abducted.“We’re now handling it like a possible abduction and a possible theft,’’ said Trooper William Totten, who has avoided using the word “abduction’’ since the couple was reported missing“It’s the time factor,” he added, “the time when it happened and the time now greatly increases the chance of an abduction.’’The two vanished without a trace and police said it appears their store, on Madison’s main street, had been robbed of an undetermined amount of gems and cash.No clues were left behind, and police have been pursuing leads telephoned in from people who believe they may have seen the couple.
