!Mayor WilliamsReiterates HisStand on KlanIMayor .! riir^ct to aIf1R. William?5 gave the lie Ku Kiux Kian speaker, quoted as telling several thousand people in Sioux Falls Saturday nightthat Mayor Williams had “begged theKlan to come back to Mitchell and ask for the use of the Corn Palace again”. The statcmc,.t of the unknown Kian speaker was made at a meeting of the Klan southeast of Sioux Falls at Split Hock creek, the occasion being the initiation of a number of klansmen.“I have not changed a particle in regard to the Klan”, Mayor Williams declared this morning. “There isn’t a scintilla of truth in the statement the Klan speaker made !n which he said I had begged the klanto come hack to Mitchell. I don’t believe the K. K. K. Ifas a place in America and I know it hasn’t a place in Mitcheil. The speaker told a deliberate' lie when he said I wanted his organization to come back. If the whole council voted in favor of allowing the Klan to use the Corn Palace and I had the power of veto, I would veto such a decision.“If the Klan does come hack to Mitchell, I have only one thing to say and that j« that the members had better be careful and keep well within the law.”oOneUnitedpersonState*in every niae in theown* an *!tflO»b!!*
