Teacher/Employee on leaveContinued from IBAs school district administrator, Negley is in charge of the investigation.This morning, Whitewater police issued a news release saying detectives are investigating a complaint received May 24 “pertaining to allegations of possible improper conduct of a Whitewater School District employee with a student.”Lt. Tom Guequierre, who is in charge of the police investigation, declined to identify the person under investigation.No arrest has been made.“If the investigation results in sufficient indication that a criminal offense may have been committed, the matter will be referred to the appropriate district attorney for determination of charges,” the news release reads.The investigation will take “at least another week,” Guequierre saidBrown, 35, lives at 320 Townline Road, Janesville. He has been a Whitewater teacher since the 1996-97 school year. The school’s Web site indicates he teaches business law, keyboarding and accounting.Brown’s teaching licenses are in good standing with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and the department has received no complaints, said Mike Mottl, DPI education specialist in the teacher education and licensing team.In March 1999, Brown was selected to be the Whitewater football coach.Last fall, in Brown’s only season as head football coach, Whitewater shared the Southern Lakes Conference championship with Elkhorn and Delavan-Darien. The Whippets were 9-3 overall and advanced to the third round of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs before losing to eventual state champion Waunakee.Brown received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marquette University in 1986 and a master’s degree in business education from UW-Whitewater in 1990. He taught business education in the Mosinee School District from 1990 to 1991 and in the Cambridge School District from 1991 to 1995, according his teaching license application.
