Five Inmates of the Indiana Woman’s Prison Returned.CAPTURED BY MISS RHOADEStThree Refugees Were Taken From Abandoned Shanty Near Greenwood—Other Two Caught i Near Morgantown.Indianapolis.—Five inmates of the Indiana Woman’s prison, who escaped, were captured and returned to the prison by Miss Emily E. Rhoades, superintendent of the prison. Three of the women—Flora Knox, Nellie Barton and Delma Marshall—were captured in au abandoned shed nearGreenwood.Information given Miss Rhoades by one of the prisoners resulted in the capture of the other two women— Maggie Spurrier and Nellie Needy—• between Greenwood and Morgantown. None of the women had had anything to eat since leaving the institution, and all were found in a state of exhaustion. The women returned to the institution without resistance. They escaped from the prison after one had stolen a key from a guard and released the others.Information which led to the capture of the first three women was received by the police department when the trio was seen walking toward Greenwood. Miss Rhoades appealed to the police for assistance, but they were unable to accommodate her. Miss Rhoades then obtained a private automobile and, accompanied by Silas Cox, engineer at the prison, started in pursuit. Upon nearing Greenwood it was learned that the three women had entered a woods, where they -were found in an abandoned shanty.En route to Indianapolis one of the women told Miss Rhoades that the other two prisoners had taken refuge in a woods adjoining that in which they had been captured. Miss Rhoades returned to Greenwood and, with the assistance of the town marshal, searched the woods, but found that the women had gone. Timber lands and secluded spots were searched all afternoon before it w'as learned that the women had gone toward Morgantown, where they were overtaken.■ _» ■— -
