Thief Caught -Nit. ' vOn Wednesday of last week-a man applied at the headquarters of the Quaker Medicine Company at Louisville for employment. He was out of funds: The company did not employ him, but gave him his breakfast. He asked for a letter-head and envelope to write to a friend. He got it. He took the letter-head and envelope and went to Holmes’ livery stable, nearby, and represented himself as au agent for the Quaker remedies and showed the letter-head and envelope. He hired a horse and buggy, ostensibly to sell the remedies from the buggy on the street corners. He was to return the horse and buggy that night, but when day dawned Thursday morning he was in Corydon with the horse and buggy. He claimed to be hard up, and had no use for the outfit. He sold his buggy to James R. Tabler for $20. He then bought a saddle and bridle, intending to ride horseback. But he was either too drunk or too ill to do so. So he traded the saddle and bridle and nine dollars in cash to Geo. Shuck for a road cart. Hitching his horse to it, he sped his way to DePauw on the Air Liue railroad. There he sold horse, harness and cart to Marshall Vaughn for $20. The train whistled. The fellow jumped on the train without purchasing a ticket, and went westward. The marshal at Huntingburg was telegraphed to, but when the train pulled in there, the man was non est. He had left the train at an intermediate station, and that is the last heard of him. A representative of Holmes’ livery stable came toCorydon Friday, gathered up his property and took it back home.Patriotic Resolutions.rjManFOrHGC]COSF
