avoiding the too often belittling and detracting effect an extensive attached porch often has upon a stone structure, as is necessarily the case in planning a modern dwelling, except possibly when adhering strictly to colonial treatment, wh-ich is as yet our only recognized National style, but one uot properly adapted to stone treatment. The exterior design of this residence embodies different so-called styles. There Is, for instance, a touch of Romanesque in the arcade, a suggestion of French gothic in the carvings and windows, and a few Flemish ideas in the-gables, but the tout ensemble Is what might simply be called an example of the higher typb of modern American domestic architecture. The interior of this residence is to be carried out fully in keeping with the beautiful exterior. On the first floor is a large reception hall, parlor, library, dlning-rcom, breakfast room and the kitchen and ec-cessories.A special feature of the first story will be the elegant main stairway, oak wainscoted and beamed dining-room, the lined ice room end tiled kitchen. On the second floor will be five commodious and well-appointed bed-roczns, two eiegant tiled bath-roms, and an extensive covered rear porch; this latter feature will prove delightful in mild weather. In the attic, besides the servants’ rooms and bath-room, there will be a very large billiafd-room or banqueting hall with a fifteen-foot vaulted ceiling. The cellar i3 divided into laundry, drying-room, vegetable room, wine closet, fur-nace-room and fuel rooms. Some of the other features cf this residence will be a small electric eleva or running from cellar to attic; a large filter, purifying the entire water supply lt;r iae house, and gas log fireplaoes, which can be lighted or extinguished by simply pushing a button. Thi3 latter is something entirely neW and does away with the old and unsatisfactory method of lighting gas logs. There is to be erected cn the rear of the lot a fine freestone stab e, with modern accommodations for four horses, besides a room for the coachman and gardener, and the design of the stable is to be in harmcny with the residence. The house and stable will be connected by local telephones, and there will also be lccal telephone service between the different apartments of the house. When completed this residence will undoubtedly rank among the finest In Hamilton County.
