She was found sick in bed when Officers Crockett nnd Anthony sorved the wairant on her. For that reason she was not taken to the (Tty Prison* but permitted to furnish S250 | cash bail for her appearance when wanted.N)ine live months ago Josie Williams,better known as Leslie Carlisle, aged 10 years, disappeared from ttie home of her guardian. The police were asked to search for the girl, nnd traced her to the house kept by the Woodward woman. She deniedthat the girl was there, and several timesthe officers searched the house, but were unable to find the runaway.It was not until yesterday, when Josieswore out a search warrant for the recovery of her clothing from Mullie’s “gilded palace,” that the police learned of her whereabouts. Josie then said that she had been in the house fur hvo months, and that when she left she was uot allowed to remove her wardrobe. Soon after the officers first searched the place Mol lie Woodward induced her to consent to marry a fellow named Williams, who was given $;.) to defray the expenses. The ceremony was performed iu Oakland, and the police believe it was a mock marriage.
