Bob Robertson.“They** were not eaten up, but Donald A,Henrickson, 19,of Seattle, and Timothy R, Johnson, 18, of 15707 52nd Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace, were charged by the prosecutor J uly 16 with assault with a deadly weapon.Single-handedly, Clapp subdued the gun-waving young men the evening of July 14 after forcing their vehicle into a ditch at 20027 Damson Rd,, Alder -wood Manor.Henrickson and Johnson's auto was spotted by Clapp as he and the victim of an armed auto theft drove in the area looking for the thieves.Henrickson and Johnson, related Capt. Robertson, and two other men (still sought by the sheriff) had stolen a 1961 black Ford from Charles M. Leavitt, 23, of Seattle.From the University District, Leavitt and four friends followed Henrickson, Johnson, et al to a power line road in Alder-wood Manor on the pretense of showing his car to a prospective buyer.On the power line road, Leavitt and his friends were forced at gun point out of the Ford and told to go into the woods.After the foursome had departed with both vehicles, the five hold-up victims made their way to Clapp's house at 20623 Danvers Rd., Alderwood Manor, and asked for help.Taking one of the youths with him, Clapp began driving around in search of the auto thieves.Their car forced off the road, Henrickson and Johnson emerged from the vehiclebrandishing a pistol and shotgun.Clapp and his passenger were told to go into the woods - the passenger obeyed.Clapp, however, told the youth holding the pistol, That’d better be a good gun because you'll have to use it.As Clapp menacingly moved in, the youth threw the revolver into the woods. The shotgun-toting youth retreated back into the car and unloaded his weapon.Bolt cutters, a pry bar and two large screw drivers were found in the car, Capt. Robertson noted.Clapp held the two youths until the Sheriffs deputies arrived.
