The efficiency of our Court and our officers in this in. stance, noted so widely in the press, will have a good effect and will not be forgotten for years. Such swiftness of legal justice ought to bring terror enough to the hearts of even such brutish beasts as Wish Sheppard, and it is hoped that such a crime as his will never occur again in Caroline. The circumstanceand publicity of the punishment of the ‘ scaffold ought to be known to every nne of bis type, whose presence in any com-munity is a menace and a curse—a menace and a curse which when known will not be allowed to long remain.
