Five Boys Are Sent To Training SchoolsJudge Miller Soys Most of Youngsters Hod Bod Home BackgroundsFive boys whose crime careers have extended over the .past few years, were yesterday committeed to state training schools when arraigned before Juvenile Court Magistrate Harvey Miller in connection with a recent crime wave near Camp Ritchie.The boys range an age from 13 to 15 years.Two boys were sent to the Maryland Training School for Boys and the other three were sent to St. Mary’s Industrial School.“Nearly every case had bad home conditions for a background,” Judge Miller said. “The boys are old offenders and were sternly warned before when brought be-fore me. In some cases they were severely punished at home.Judge Miller said the parents of nearly all five boys have been brought into court on matrimonial troubles and on charges of not properly caring for their children.'“Some of these boys have been involved in petty crimes for as much as two and three years,” Judge Miller reported.The boys are committeed 'to the training school for an indeterminate period, subject to parole after about a year if so recommended by school authorities.The boys, all of whom live in the Pen Mar section, confessed to a series of larcenies in and around Camp Ritchie. They were arrested earlier this week through efforts of sheriff’s officers, and Maryland and Pennsylvania State Police.
