8ALSI FINED $500; FRANCISCHI TO TRIALAntonio Balsi, who was arresteu while operating a still at the Bas-setti ranch near Cloverdale last week, entered a plea of guilty to possession of intoxicating liquor before Judge Clendenin,. of Hopland, on last Thursday and was fined £500. * His son, Armando; aged .about IS years, was dismissed from . custody, the court, holding that the boy's father was to blame for his participation in the operations of the older Balsi and his partner, Benedetto Francischi.Francischi has engaged counsel and will plead not guilty. This is his only hope to avoid punishment, as, according to the officers, he is an old offender, and has been convicted of at least two prior charges of'similar nature. He hopes thar a jury; will clear him, whereas, if he pleaded guilty he could not escape a jail sentence.
