Athens Man Is On Trial In Connection With Bank JobPALESTINE, July 28. i-P. — Two state's witnesses testified todav during the trial of Joel Carroll, Athensman charged in connection with therobbery of the First State bank ot Prankston December 10, that they saw Carroll standing near the bank a few minutes before it was robbed.Charlie Curry, deputy sheriff, and Charlie Slaughter, a constable, said Carrol was one of four men who participated in a gun battle with officers after the robbery.
