PINK BARBOUR SENTENCEDWill Go to His Death on Day Fol- ( lowing That ot Arch Brown ^Harrisonbnrg, Va., Jaly 25.—Pink Barbour was sentenced Saturday morning by Judge Haas to die in the electric chair, Friday, September 23, for the murder of James M. Lee in Harrisonburg on July the Fourth. The jury had leturned a verdict of murder in the first degree after only fifteen minutes consultation Friday • afternoon. Immediately at the conclusion of the trial, which lasted little more than a day and a half, the prisoner’s attorneys made a motion for a new trial, which Judge Haas considered, but overruled Saturday morning, at the same time pronouncing the sentence.Barbour will remain in the county ia.il for at least a month yet, as he cannot be taken to the state penitentiary more than thirty days prior to date of execution or less than fifteen days. Barbour, who is from Harris-ton, Augusta county, will go to his death the day following tliat of Arch Brown, who shot and killed a man , and boy on May 18, near STAUN -TON.TWO SHOTS FIRED AT MAYOR
