Orders soon came for a surgeon, and for a warrant to arrest one Erastus Wheeler, who was charged with the deed, the particulars of which as stated by Ruple, and in testimony by those who were near at hand, are as follows:Some time during the forenoon, Wheeler, who lived with his uncle, A. Harris, near Ruple’s called to Ruple and had an interview with him, in the course i \ ' of which he told Ruple that his wife ( Mrs. Ruple, who it is well known has been living with Harris for about a year,) wished to see him, and that it must be unknown to Harris. Ruple remarked that he was afraid of some deception, but that he would meet her at j some suitable place on his own premises \ but not on Harris’.
