Man sought in abductionof womanTRAVERSE CITY — Police are seeking a man who reportedly kidnapped a 50-year-old woman and later released her unhurt in the Hoosier Valley area Monday evening, said Traverse City Police Chief Ralph Soffredine.The woman told police she was walking in g jthe area of Sixth *■''“» v and Oak streets ^ fabout dusk, when A *she accepted a ride from the man. _The man drove her to the Hoosier A police draw-Valley area in a of the sus-“newer” red van, pect demanded she commit certain unspecified sexual acts and then ordered her out of the van after she refused, Soffredine said.‘‘The man told the woman he could kill her because he had been in the war,” Soffredine said.The woman ran into the woods and spent most of the night there, Soffredine said.The woman returned home early the next morning and called police. Soffredine said he doesn’t know how she got home. The woman was unhurt, except for .scrapes and bruises on her legs from spending the night in the woods, Soffredine said.The woman was dropped off in the same general vicinity where the nude, decomposed body of Linda Meteer of Traverse City was found April 27 in a mostly wooded area just south of Vance Road in Blair Township, police said.‘There isn’t any connection (to the murder) that we can find,” .Soffredine said. “It’s early in the investigation, but we don’t think there’s one.”The suspect is described as a white male, very short red hair, 40 to 50 years old, 168 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
