Montgomery had a lively fi^ht Friday and as a result Adam Abel, a saloonkeeper, was fined #1 for assault on Aniiel Horton by ‘Squire Kellams in this city and $1 for provocation before* a justice of the peace at Montgomery. Proceedings to have Abel placed under a surety of the peace bond were withdrawn. Two indictments were returned against Abel by the last grand jury. Abel charged Horton with giving evidence to the grand jury and threatened to “do!‘ him, according to the story told by Horton. The two men met Friday and a few minutes later Horton was skipping toward home at a rate not much lees than a mile a minute, and Abel was close behind with a hatchet. Horton got a gun at his home and saved his scalp.—Washington Democrat.
