Jury Proposes Life-Plus TermNEWPORT NEWS (AP) — A Circuit Court jury has recommended that a man convicted of an Oct. 28 attack on a woman receive a life prison term for rape and 20 years for burglary.Both sentences recommended by the jury Tuesday in the case of Charles Minor are maximum penalties for the crimes.The rape conviction was Minor's third in Newport News in recent months. The combined sentences recommended in the three trials are two life terms plus 120 years.Minor will be tried Aug. 7 in a Newport News rape and slaying and faces trial in five Virginia Beach rapes.
