Therefore, I am asking you to give this letter equal prominence with that received by the article in question. In the first place, Philip Kazen never has had and never will have the authority to quote me on any subject. Kazen was so informed in a telephone conversation held on the Friday morning prior to the appearance of the article in question,In the second place, we have repeatedly, in every election held since I assumed the office of Superintendent, sent out to teachers a letter urg-x ax vj axxu xxiutx u aiacvx. But the Old Party dictators, realizing that the Martin Bobbitt group might get head-strong, might get rid of their ‘rubber-knees’ and oust the Vails leadership from the Party, Hugh Cluck of the Martin-Bobbitt group, got the unopposed nomination of the Party for the office of mayor—a move which was meant to both pacify and bait the Martin-Bobbitt clique. But with the office of mayor returned to the Albert Martin-Judge Bobbitt faction in the person of Hugh Cluck all was not well. The dictators were worried. So ip order to keep the Martin-Bobbit political-sun from getting too high in the political heavens, Hugh Cluck was put. on the spot.Cluck was forced into a position of refusing a political candidate, Bill Quilliam, the great American privilege of holding a political rally on the public plaza of San Agustine in Laredo. The next day, with the advise of his true friends, Cluck changed his decision and allowed the rally. But the political dagger had already been thrust into his back. The trickery of the Old Party dictators had already served its purpose, of discrediting the leadership of the Martin-Bobbitt group, represented by Hugh Cluck, because the public of course will never forgive that first action of Mayor Cluck in denying Quilliam the American privilege of freedom of assembly. This bit of political back-stabbing was done because the dictators within the Old Party realized it was not safe for them to allow the Martin-Bobbitt group to ever again get the leadership of the party. This political treachery, is, of course, regretted by all of us.49th Judicial District, and County Judge M. J. Raymond, one of the leaders of the Independent Club. The full program had not been completed to Tuesday, it was announced, and other speakers would be addedto the list. , ,This final and only rally of the Independent Club in support of its candidates is expected to attract a great gathering and it is said talks will be made both in English and Spaniah so that all may understand.Quilliam To Hold Rallies At Hebbronville AndKazenMight 8:30Philip A.
