The Abortion Case—TIic Verdict of theCoroner’s Jury.Day before) yesterday, we published the fact that a young lady by the name of Mollic Kecshan, had died suddenly in this city, and that after her burial, she had been disinterred, and a post morlcm examination of the body had, and a coroner’s inquest held over the body. The coroner’s jury did not conclude their labors until this morning, when a verdict was rendered, substantially that the deceased came to her death bv an abortion, and that Dr.%j 7Hinton was accessory totlie crime. Accord-ingly, Dr. Hinton, who was under arrest, and who had been guarded last night had a preliminary examination before Esq. Denehie, who held him to bail in the sum of 82,000. We did not learn whether the bail was given or not. About the whole affair, there is something strange. This day two weeks ago, Miss Keeshan left•S CD 7Reclsville where she had been teaching school, and it is said came to this place. On the Monday following, Hinton left, saying that he was going to New Goshen to collect some money, but it appears that he did not go. Subsequently, the young lady left here, and it is said went to Evansville, remaining there for a short time, and then returning to this place, and stopping at a private house. It was in evidence before the jury, that Hinton hadvisited her while at tlie house above referred to, and given chloroform, and many other things were testified, of which wedo not cho.se to speak of at present. That someone iias been guilty of tho crime of abortion, there can be no doubt, as the evidence of the physicians is positive on this subject. If Dr. Hinton has had no connection with this crime, certainly he ought not to be punished. It is hoped tho guilty party may be arrested and brought to justice. It may bo that the police authorities of Evansville may work up this case as it is supposed that the abortion was produced there, and that subsequently this young lady came here. There is an old hag in that city, at whose house it is asserted, abortions have been more than once been produced, and that more than one erring girl has lost her life in consequence of a visit to that place. If it be true tha Miss Keeshan went to Evansville, some important facts in connection with the case may be learned there. Certainly the guilty ought to be sought out andpun-ished.! f t
