°MOBILE MAN GOES ON TOE WARPATHUses a Winchester Freely and Several Persons Are Badly Wounded.Mobile. Ala., July 21.—'Wheeler McCurdy. night clerk of the Royal Hotel, established a reign of terror on lower Dauphin street tonight, attacking John Wacker. a barkeeper, with a Winchester rllle loaded with buckshot. He missed Wacker, but shot Sam Wylie through the brain and John Hyland in the neck. He then went outside and shot William L. Ross, a young merchant .through the legs. He fired also at former City Clerk Louis D. Chaudron, and aimed at a man named Timberlake, who dodged around a corner. He then 'discharged his gun up the street, which was crowded with the usual Saturday night crowd.At this point Policeman Hoyle put the man under arrrest. Earlier In the evening Wacker and McCurdy had had a quarrel, and Wacker hud given McCurdy a beating. McCurdy got his gun and entered the barroom and opened lire.. Wylie is unconscious, and his death may take place at any time.
