New Public Enemy Is Suspected Of Bank Job In AmesWASHINGTON lt;UJR) — G-men Monday instituted a nationwide ; search for a new public enemy— Maurice Denning, characterized as “one of the most notorious bank robbers at large.Issuing 250,000 identification circulars to police the nation over, the federal bureau of investigation accused Denning’s gang of robbing National banks at Hawarden, la., Dell Rapids, S. D., Superior, Neb., Hudson, S. D.. and Smith Center, Kan., and State banks in Cumberland, la., Holton. S. P., Ellsworth Minn., Norfolk, Neb., Centerville, S. D., Ames, ia„ Bartley, Neb., and I/* Mars, la.The G-men said that Denning’s desperados plundered the national guard armory at Windom, Minn.. In 1934, stealing army pistols and rifles.All of the robberies in which Denning has participated have involved the endangering of the lives of bank employes and firearms were flourished on each occasion, said the bureau.Police Chief W. J.
