Former Norwich Couple’s Daughter Found Slain In !N.J.Special to The Evening Sun.MIDLAND PARK, N.J. — The daughter of a former Norwich couple was found strangled Thursday in a swampy, wooded area a few blocks from her Ber. gen County home here.Thirteen-year-old JackjeHarp, a brown-haired, brown.eyed junior high school student,had been choked with a leathersling used to support a flagstaff. The dead girl had beena flag bearer in a fife and drum corps.She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Harp, 130 Birch St., Midland Park. Mrs. Harp is the former Myra Craw, ley of Norwich. Mr. Harp also lived in Norwich and the couple were married in the Chenango County community. The dead girl’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley A. Craw-ley of 17 Miller St., Norwich. Mrs. Harp attended Norwich schools.The dead girl's father is anephew of Mrs. George Harp of 10 Baldwin Street and her late husband. He attended schools in Greene and is the son of Mrs. Frederick (Mary) Harp of Greene. His father is dead. A cousin, Donald Harp, lives on Columbus Road, New Berlin.The New Jersey man held various jobs when he and his wife lived on Miller Street in Norwich. These include Montgomery Wards, where his wife also had worked, and as a driver for Arrow Laundry and Norwich Dry Cleaners. Mr. Harp, In his mid-thirties, and his wife moved to New Jersey approximately sevenyears a^o, according to relatives in Norwict.Detectives have no suspects in the death of 13.year-old School girl, killed as she went home from a Wednesday night drum and bugle practice session ather school.The girl's fully-clothed body was found Thursday sprawled in a wooded ravine after her mother reported her missing. According to police, there were no signs of sexual assault, but her face had apparently been beaten.
